11.2
OCEAN CURRENTS
An ocean current is water which is reaching to the ocean. There are 20 gigantic ocean currents in the world. The 20 ocean currents are very helpful. They carry dissolved minerals, solar energy, oxygen, carbon dioxide, fish and plankton around the world. Plankton is a type of food which gets eaten by the other creatures in the ocean. There are two types of ocean currents: surface currents and water currents. These two currents have a big role in the environment. What makes the ocean currents move is wind action, Earth's spinning and the shape of the Earth's continents. What makes deep water currents move is the temperature of the Earth and water's salinity.
